My little pond

This is my little pond I put in my garden when I first started gardening this plot of land.  I can't even remember how long it's been since I put it in but at least 12 years and maybe 15. It's just a little thing, about 6 feet long and 4 feet across and about 18" at the deepest part. I dug the hole by hand, lined it with a rubber liner, rolled rocks around the edges.  I was much younger then!! It has a shallow end where I have a container of native plants dug up from along a boggy creek that is on the property.  The garden told me it wanted a pond so I had to comply.

Some kind of floating plant, millions of little 2 leafed plants.
They just showed up

Container with grasses and cane
That's a little pump that splashes during the day.
Water clover and little white flowers(upper left hand corner)
on the submerged plant
I used  to have pickeral weed, arrowhead and water lillies but the overhanging oak trees make it too shady now.  There is this little, tiny plant that grows on the surface and submerged plants, like that sprig of green plant that comes in a fish bowl and water clover which looks like 4 leaf clover floating on the surface.

Echo helps me keep the plants trimmed
It's been so hot and dry here I have to go out and top off the pond every other day.  It's a great place for big bullfrogs and is usually full of tadpoles in the spring.

  1. I love your pond! I've seen those tiny floating plants in the ponds and lakes around here, or at least something very similar. Isn't it great listening to the frogs croak and sing?! I've really been enjoying my pond, too. Echo is so beautiful, and she's so sweet to keep things trimmed down for you :D

  2. Wow, I would love to have a pond! Echo is a handsome dog, we have a doberman too. Come take part in my blog's one year anniversary lottery, just by leaving a comment you can win something handmade by me :)

  3. I love your little pond and that you dug it yourself! Sounds like something I would do. I am a new follower.

I love your comments and thanks for visiting!!
