Beautiful Sunday

It has been a gorgeous day today!  After a cool start, the sun warmed things up nicely.  There are lots of things happening in the yard but these are the most dramatic. I just love wandering the yard taking pictures.  Don't we all, as gardeners, tour the yard daily to see what's happening!
Ramona clematis on a metal garden trellis.
This grows in front of the house and blooms
off and on all season.

I love the dark lavender purple of these flowers!

Looking up into a Japanese maple

These are some old fashioned irises given to me by
my best friend, Sherry.  She got them from a friend whose mother had them.
Truly a pass-a-long plant.

Dark purple bearded iris with this little yellow
weed of some kind.  I think it might be mustard because
the leaves look like mustard greens. I left it when weeding
hoping it would do something interesting. And it did!

  3. Makes me sigh with remembering my own garden.

I had an area in the back of the house to the left side, that I always left to nature to surprise me with flowers. The birds transplanted seeds. I can't begin to describe the array of species of flowers and colors--I only weeded when I saw old poison ivy creep its way in.

So don't mind me if you find me gazing at your garden-:)

  5. Your clematis is huge! Mine is a little scrawny thing, but I'm hoping it will spread out soon. Great post, beautiful pictures!
