New work heading for the kiln

The drying table was totally full of greenware.  No room to make anything new!
This is how everything gets to the kiln.  I load up the back of the Terrain and backup to the
kiln building.  This is also used for my DH's car parts storage.  That brick building in the left hand background is the studio.

This the kiln.  It's pretty big.  I can get a lot of work in it.  But I still didn't get it all in.  The tall cylinder utensil holders will have to wait for the next run.

Filled to the top.  I have half shelves so can configure in many ways.

Set for a delayed start at about 3 AM.  It will be ready to close the lid tomorrow about 10 AM.

This week's glaze load was a mixed bag of good and not-so-much.  2 good yarn bowls and some lidded jars.  A large magnolia and commissions were good.

This is a commission.

But I had 3 large lidded jars, garlic keeper and honey pot that the lids stuck and I broke the pots trying to free them.  That was a lot of work to lose. Oh well, the broken pieces will become mosaic pieces for a lamp project sometime.  I've got another load firing tomorrow.  Leaf plates and platters.  Keep your fingers crossed!!

Glaze load kiln opening

So I promised to post more and here you go!  This was my glaze load opening.  It's always like Christmas when I open that glaze kiln.  Sometimes good, sometimes bad or so so.  I'll have to say this one was good.  I had 2 commissions and other stuff that came out great and only a couple things that will have to touched up and reglazed.  And I was so proud of myself that I remembered to take pictures!  

My husband just replaced the elements and thermocouples so my kiln fired like new.  A perfect cone 6.  It had been struggling to get to temp all summer and I finally just bit the bullet and ordered new elements.  It's so nice to have a handy husband!

I didn't get the bottom level photoed.  So the commissions were a noodle bowl and spoon rest.

YAY, I feel like I'm on a role now!  I've got 2 more commissions waiting to bisqued but that will probably be next week.  Trying to make up for lost time.  I don't really do down time well.  I think about all the things I need to be doing!! 

So I'm not goofing off this Labor Day weekend.  I hope you are doing what you want to do!!
