Kiln opening

This week's glaze load was a mixed bag of good and not-so-much.  2 good yarn bowls and some lidded jars.  A large magnolia and commissions were good.

Magnolia

This is a commission.

But I had 3 large lidded jars, garlic keeper and honey pot that the lids stuck and I broke the pots trying to free them.  That was a lot of work to lose. Oh well, the broken pieces will become mosaic pieces for a lamp project sometime.  I've got another load firing tomorrow.  Leaf plates and platters.  Keep your fingers crossed!!

Sales dust and customer service

OK, I'll admit it!  I'm an Etsy addict.  My computer is on all the time and I'm checking all day everyday for the sale I just know is coming.  If I go for more than a week without a sale, I start to panic.  I need to remember to just breathe and let the universe turn.

I still get so excited when a sale comes.  Especially like this one from yesterday.  A repeat customer.  A 2 times repeat customer!  That makes me feel so great.  That someone liked my work enough to come back again and again. Customer interaction is very important to me and I try to have good communication with all my customers. It may be online but still personal as if that buyer was walking into my studio. I'll pack these pieces up with care along with a thank you note today and send them on their way to find their place in the world.

So the sales dust fairy visited me and I'll spread the dust to everyone......

I need to catch my breath!

Whew!! It's been a busy last few days.  We got new work moved to the new Georgia Heritage Arts Assoc in Helen.  The store looks fabulous and we're all very excited about its opening. Oct 28th will be the opening date.

Cannister set in pebble beach glaze
And then to top all that, my Etsy shop had a whirlwind of orders including a finished cannister set that was ordered about 3 weeks ago.  They turned out beautifully.  It seemed like every time I went to the shop to pack something up when I got back to my computer, something else had sold! Go figure, I've been saying it's either feast or famine but I'll take feast anytime.  One day saw me going to 2 different post offices and UPS.  I think I've got the routine down pretty well now. Up to 51 sales now!

Tomorrow I head up to Tallulah Falls for my weekly pottery demo.  I'll be making soap pumps, maybe some coffee mugs and some little bowls.  My daughter is coming home for the afternoon to get help with a Halloween costume...Lady Gaga.  I'm not sure what that will involve.  Should be interesting.

Noodles anyone?

I had a good day at the shop to day.  Glazing, throwing, taking pix, rearranging things, We talked about the coming holiday season and what to do for an open house.  I think we'll have it early this year, maybe Friday and Saturday after T-day.  It's always been the first Saturday of the December but we felt like this year we should go with an earlier date to catch people before they've spent all the money.  I can't believe how fast this year has gone by.  I guess I'm having fun(LOL).

I've posted some new things on etsy. This a noodle bowl.  For all those who can use chopsticks.  I  love the cobalt blue color.  I think it turned out nicely. And this is a yarn bowl.  Who knew you needed a bowl for the yarn?!  But they are fun to make.  I try to do my own take on these new items.  Hence, the stars on the noodle bowl and butterfly on the yarn bowl.

There are always new things to try.  Some of them work out and some don't.  I'm excited when they do.
